Basic Job Interview Questions Flashcards
Tell me about yourself.
I studied Systems & Architecture in computer science at school, and after graduating, I have about 6 years of experience working in web development. My main experience comes from working at Woongjin for 5 years as a Full Stack Developer, where I primarily built up my experience in JavaScript. My main role was developing and managing the maintenance of web-based ERP systems used by our customers’ companies.
Over the 5 years, I successfully delivered over 30 customized ERP systems to customers and handled most of the maintenance management after development. While developing these ERP systems, I became familiar with many business concepts by adapting them to meet our client’s requirements. I gained a lot of experience in JavaScript frameworks using EXT JS and improved my HTML, CSS, and PHP skills, mainly by making various print forms.
In addition, I managed around 50 reporters for each system and gained experience in creating and managing Stored Procedures, Schedulers, Jobs, and Functions in MS SQL Server. I also gathered valuable experience working with SQL. I have experience in API integration for shipping features such as FedEx and USPS in ERP systems. Moreover, I attended the Las Vegas Magic Show every year to address customer system issues on-site and set up local servers to link with live servers and transfer data according to the show schedule.
I am excited about the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that has the potential to make a real impact on the world. I am very motivated and focused on achieving good results. I work well with others and enjoy helping them. I believe my skills and experience make me a great fit for this position.
What are your strengths and weaknesses as a software developer?
My strengths as a full-stack developer include my solid technical skills, the ability to work well both independently and with a team, and completing tasks on time, even if it requires overtime. My weaknesses involve not being familiar with certain new technologies and occasionally striving too hard for perfection. However, I am always eager to improve my skills and learn more, and I believe I can overcome my weaknesses.
What was your most challenging web development project? What happened?
One of my hardest web development projects was making an ERP system for a client with a very different type of business than I usually work with. Most of my clients were in the fashion industry, but this project was for Jayone, a food company. This made the project more difficult at first because the two industries have different needs.
The project took a total of two years to finish, instead of the planned one year, because the client kept changing what they wanted. To solve these problems, I met with the client many times to understand their business better.
During this time, I had to do many other tasks at the same time, including working on other system developments. I overcame these challenges by focusing on the most important and urgent tasks first and then handling other issues one by one. In the end, the project was successful, and the client’s representative even got a promotion thanks to the successful project.
What are your salary expectations?
I am open to discussing salary expectations once I have a better understanding of the role and the company. However, I am confident that my skills and experience are worth a competitive salary.
Do you have any questions for me?
Yes, what are the biggest challenges facing the company right now?
