Basic Info Flashcards
Frequency Allocation
HF - 3 to 30MHz
VHF - 30 to 300MHz
UHF - 300 to 3000MHz
Explain primary and secondary allocation
We have to share frequencies
Either primary or secondary
Primary = ok to broadcast (but check first by listening)
Secondary = sharing with others, careful don’t interfere
What is the foundation frequency allocation?
144-146MHz
Explain: Frequency & Wavelength
Distance of a wave measured from peak to peak is known as a wavelength
As frequency rises the wavelength is reduced
As frequency goes from low to high, wavelength goes from long to short
What are the modes?
Modes = the types of data that can be sent.
Voice
Morse (CW)
Data
SSTV (slow scan television)
What are the modulations?
The modulations:
FM (frequency modulation)
AM (amplitude modulation)
SSB (single sideband)
