What is a computer. Explain the terms data and information
A computer is an electronic device that has devices to enter data, store data and process raw facts and figures according to the given instructions and give the desired result on an output device.
Data: Data refers to raw facts and figures. For example, 123, “English”, etc.
Information: Information refers to processed data. For example, total marks and percentage of a student
- Explain the components of a computer with a block diagram.
A computer system comprises the following components:
Computer hardware – Physical parts of a computer such as Input devices, output devices, central processing unit and storage devices are called computer hardware.
Computer software – Software are the programs or applications that run on computers. For example, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Operating systems, etc
3.What is a software?
Software is a set of computer programs that perform a particular task.
- Broadly classify the categories of software.
Following are the categories of softwares:
System Software System software is a set of one or more programs designed to control the operation of a computer system.
Application Software Application software is a computer program that is designed to perform a certain type of work.
Utility Program A utility program is used to perform maintenance work on a system or on the components of the computer. Examples of Utility program are;- anti-virus software, file management programs, etc.
5.Explain internet and its Applications?
Internet and its Applications Internet is a network of networks. It is an interconnection between several computers of different types belonging to various networks all over the world. The Internet is a medium of communication and exchange of information
6.What is web surfing?
Exploring information on the web is called web surfing.
Define WWW.
WWW:- (World Wide Web) WWW stands for world wide web is a network of world wide computers. Web site
Define webpage.
Web page:- An individual page of a web site is called a web page. It is written in a special computer language called HTML (Hyper text markup Language).
Define protocol
Protocol:- Protocol is a set of rules to be followed while communicating or transferring data on the internet.
Define URL.
URL:- (Uniform Resource Locator) Each web page has a unique address which identifies its location on the network. This unique address is called the URL.
Define Web browser.
Web Browser:- A web browser is a program that is used to view the web sites. It acts as an interface between the web server and the world wide web. Some commonly used web browsers are – Google Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Opera, etc
What is Social media?
Social media refers to different online communications channels that are dedicated to community-based input, interaction, content-sharing and collaboration.
Ex: - Blog, IG, FB, Twitter, YT, Digital India,etc…
Define blog.
Blog:- A blog is a website which is maintained by an individual. The person who creates and maintains the blog is called the blogger.
Define twitter.
Twitter:- Twitter is a social networking service that allows you to send short messages to communicate with your friends or followers. You can send short messages of upto 140 characters, which are called tweets. Twitter is sued by people to inform others about the latest happenings in their lives.
Define Instagram.
Instagram:- (commonly abbreviated to IG or Insta) is an American photo and video sharing social networking service owned by Facebook, created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger and originally launched on iOS in October 2010
