Basic DC Resistor Circuits Flashcards
Describe Ohm’s law
Current is directly proportional to the voltage and inversely proportional to resistance
Describe Kirchhoff’s voltage law
The sum of the voltage drops in a series circuit is equal to the applied voltage
Describe Kirchhoff’s current law
The sum of currents entering a node is equal to the sum of currents leaving the node.
Look at a piccy of a multimeter and name all the parts
LCD, MIN MAX button, HOLD button, Function selector, Amps socket, Common socket, Other socket, Backlight button, Mode button, Range
What is the calibration procedure for a multimeter?
Check the label is intact, signed, within date, legible
What is the serviceability check for a multimeter?
- Check physical condition
- Continuity test (check leads) - Ohms should be less than 0.5
- Fuse test - red lead straight into red socket (should read less than 0.5 ohms)
Is circuit on or off when measuring resistance, current, voltage
only off for resistance
Name all the parts of a current probe
Transformer jaw, Jaw trigger, select button, LCD, common socket, other socket, hold button, relative button, function selector, positive polarity indicator
What is the calibration procedure for a current probe?
Label -> intact, signed, within date, legible
What are the steps of a current probe serviceability check?
- Check physical condition
- Physical operation of function selector and buttons
- Operation of transformer jaws
- Battery status - 40A blah
which direction should current probe be facing
positive indicator towards positive terminal obvi
