Basic Architecture Development Model (ADM) Flashcards

1
Q

Four characteristic of Architecture Development Model

A

An iterative method, over the whole process, between phases and within
phases.
Each iteration = new decisions:
-Enterprise coverage
-Level of detail
-Time horizon
Architecture asset re‐use:
-previous ADM iterations
-other frameworks, system models,
-industry models,…
Decisions based on:
Competence / resource availability
-Value accruing to the enterprise.

Every phase is validated against and validates
the current requirements of the business.

Q

Architecture Vision activities

A

Initiates a ADM cycle
- Takes the REQUEST FOR ARCHITECTURE WORK and identifies HOW this will be accomplished (ARCHITECTURE VISION)
- PLANS the work cycle
- Performs STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
- Assess CAPABILITY of the Enterprise to do the work and accept the change

  • Create: STATEMENT OF ARCHITECTURE WORK

Q

B, C, & D: Detailed Architectures activities

A

B. Business Architecture
C. Information Systems Architecture
D. Technology Architecture

The ARCHITECTURE VISION (the high level
description of the GAP that needs to be
addressed) is LOOKED AT in more detail across
the four domains
– B: Business
– C: Application & Data
– D: Technology

Q

E & F: Planning the change activities

A

E. Opportunities and Solutions
F. Migration Planning

E & F concern themselves with HOW the
GAPS identified in B, C & D are to be
addressed
1. Identifies SOLUTIONS and creates the
ROADMAP and the IMPLEMENTATON AND MIGRATION PLAN
2. Liaises with PROGRAM MANAGEMENT TEAM
who will perform the implementation

Q

G & H: Controlling the work activities

A

G. Implementation Governance
H. Architecture Change Management

The delivery projects are underway but the
EA still needs to keep an eye on them (MONITORING)
1. Issue ARCHITECTURE CONTRACTS (to define
and start the projects)
2. Audit the projects
3. Manage CHANGE REQUESTS and other issues

Q

Requirements Management activities

A

Requirements central to the ADM
Requirements Management:
– stores REQUIREMENTS
– Feeds them into the other phases as
necessary (where they can be modified,
added to or removed)
– Collects them up at the end of the phase
