Basic Aeronautical Information Flashcards
How is lift created on an airfoil
It is created by a differential in pressure
What is Bernoullis principle
Internal pressure of a fluid decreases at points where the speed of the fluid increases
What is Relative Wind
The direction of the airflow produced by an object moving through the air
Types of airfoils on an aircraft
Wing, Propeller, Helicoptor Rotor, Horizontal Stabilizer, Vertical Tail Surfaces, and fuselage
Airfoils that produce Lift
Wing, Horizontal tail surfaces, and propeller
Define Airfoil
An airfoil is a special shape that helps airplanes and other things fly. It’s designed to make air move faster over the top and slower underneath, creating a force called lift that helps the object stay up in the air.
What is the Angle Of Attack
It is the angle at which relative wind meets an airfoil
What is Camber
The curvature of an airfoils upper and lower surface.
What is a Wing Planform
It is the shape or form of a wing as it is viewed from above.
What is Lift
An upward force created by an airfoil when it is moved through the air
What is Thrust
A man-made force that pulls or pushes the aircraft through the air
