A

Sally puts her marble in her basket and leaves. Anne moves marble to her box, Sally returns and child is asked where will Sally look for her marble?

Normal will say Sally will look in her box, where autistic will say Anne’s as they can’t employ theory of mind

What was the procedure of Baron-Cohen?

A

All group 1 passed first and second order false belief tasks. Eyes task, strange stories and 2 control tasks presented at random.

Eyes tasks photo of 25 faces from magazines, black and white, same size and same region of face.

Each pic was shown for 3 seconds, and given question of 2 opposite mental States to choose from (max score 25)

The 2 control task were gender recognition and basic emotion recognition task.

Adults with Tourette: 20.4

Normal males more trouble than normal females.

A

Children has problems with first and 2nd order tests, such as Sally Anne.

Have demonstrated adults with autism has problems passing strange stores task, these were both designed for children so Baron Cohen developed the teasing the mind in the eyes task.

To discover if high functioning adults do have problems with mind reading which is relate to ability to employ theory of mind.
