What happened when Jesus surfaced from the water?
He saw the heavens open and the spirit came down like a dove. A voice came from heaven, “You are my own dear son. I am pleased with you.”
What happened in the desert?
He stayed for forty days and was tempted by Satan. Wild animals were there but angels came and helped him.
Why was it so important for Jesus to be baptised?
It marked the beginning of Jesus’ mission- ministry.
Marked the transition in his life end of old life as
Carpenter and the beginning of his role as Messiah.
It was Jesus dedicating himself to God- showed Jesus
accepted his ministry of doing God’s work.
Importance of baptism to Christians now and in the time of Jesus, why do they feel the need to be baptised and the reasons for it.
By being baptised the Christian is following the example of Jesus
• It unites the Christian with other Christians- fellowship/ membership of the
Christian Church
• Baptism washes away all sin-
