What are 4 symbols used in an infants baptism ?
Holy water , candle , white garment , oils x2 ( catecheumens and chrism )
How is the holy water used ?
It’s is poured 3 times on the infants head , in the sign of the trinity
How do they use the candle ?
It is lit by the paschal candle , the candle represents the light for Christ
Why do they use a candle ?
Because it reminds us that the light of Christ has entered the child’s life
Why do baby wear a white garment ?
Because it’s a symbol of purity
Why do they but holy water on the baby head ?
Because it is a sign of life
Why do they use oils at an infant baptism ?
Because it is a sign that the lord is giving them strength
