Patient prep for blood sample?

A

Collection is performed in the morning after 8-12 hours of fasting to avoid turbidity in serum/plasma due to food/beverages. Sampling must be done after 15 min of rest and sitting position to avoid changes in parameters. Use tourniquets at appropriate time to avoid excessive stasis.

Withdrawal of CSF?

A

Source is the choroid plexus of the ventricles. Withdrawal is performed in the fourth-fifth lumbar vertebra space. Minimum 4 ml, no more than 15 ml.

Withdrawal of transudates?

A

Liquid build up in pericardium, peritoneum (ascites), and pleura. Used for microbiological and cytological evaluation.

A

First morning urination not used. Examination must be carried out in one hour.
