What others see about us - our non-verbals and outward appearance and how it comes across to others.

Self-Concept
Where does self-concept comes from?
It is learned from the people who had an impact on your life.

A complement or reward for doing good, like a pat on the back. One that is “unconditional” is aimed at the person “for being” and not for a specific task.

Self-fulfilling Prophecy
Individuals with a negative self-concept believe they can’t do the job no matter what. Subordinates just won’t try because they feel they will fail. Leaders with a negative self-concept won’t provide appropriate training and guidance. Both combined could have a serious impact on organizational effectiveness.
Effects on Production
These are strokes given just for “being.” They are aimed at the person and not a specific task. They are designed to help the person feel better about him or her self.
Unconditional Positive Strokes
Leads to a positive outlook. The person has confidence and will attempt new things always trying their best.
