Balancing Open Vented Systems Flashcards

1
Q

Q

What determines the total pressure in an open vented system?

A

It is the sum of the static pressure and the velocity pressure. This is calculated by Rho x G x H. This means gravity x density x height of vertical column.

Q

How does air get into an open vented system and how is this prevented?

A

If there is a hole in a joint and if the pressure at that point is less than one bar then air will be sucked in. This is prevented by ensuring that the pressure is never less that one bar.
