What are balanced forces
A balanced force is when two forces acting on an objects are equal in size but act opposite in direction.
What are the effects of balanced forces
An object that is not moving will stay still
An object that is moving continues to move at the same speed and direction
What are unbalanced forces
An unbalanced force is when two forces acting on an object are not equal in size.
What are the effects of unbalanced forces
An object that is not moving will start to move
An object that is moving will change its speed or direction
What is the difference between a contact force and a non-contact force
With contact force, the objet and the thing applying force are touching, with a non-contact force they are not
What is a resultant force
A resultant force is the size of the overall force acting on an object
It is the difference between to forces
What happens when forces are balanced
When forces are balanced they have no effect.
An object that is stationary will stay stationary
An object that is already moving will continue moving at the same speed and in the same direction
What happens when forces are unbalanced
When forces re unbalanced they have an effect so an object will accelerate in the direction of the force
