1st line: penicillin or amoxicillin oral

infection of epidermis
honey-colored crust
NO surrounding erythema
NOT sick
generalized or local (typically around moth/nose)

topical muprocin 2% TID x 10d
folliculitis
inflammation in hair follicle
furuncle: 1 (deeper)
carbuncle 1+ (deeper)
NOT SICK
dome shaped pustules
erythematous halo
folliculitis tx
eliminate irritants
-stop topical steroid
-mupirocin topical or oral if sever

genital warts (verrucae-non genital warts)
hyperkeratotic rough papules
nonpainful
Herpes Simplex
HSV1- cold sores, HSV2, genital
vesicules lesion
painful (burning)
SICK on first exposure and recurrent
*RISK in neonatal= fatal
herpetic whitlow
HSV on fingers or nails
common in health care workers
herpetic gladiatorum
