Protozoan, tailed bacteria- frothy green discharge, smells, strawberry cervix
Trichomonas vaginalis
Gram -, Nosocomial pneumonia, chills, fever, cough, bloody mucoid stools, can progress to bloodstream or wound infections- found on ventilators, IVs, etc
Klemsiella pneumoniae
Gram -, Chancer sore that is painless, can lead to muscular paralysis, blindness
Treponema pallidum
Gram both +/-, Gray, frothy discharge, fishy odor, wet mount shows clue cells
Gardnerella vaginalis (BV)
Gram + diplococcus, Causes pneumonia, wound infections, meningitis, septicemia, Otis media
Streptococcus pneumonia
Gram - spirochete, Bulls eye rash, HA, fever, fatigue
Borrelia burgdorferi (cause of lyme disease)
No cell wall, Rash erythema multiforms, blisters on trunk, fever, chills, sore throat, dry cough
Mycoplasma pneumonia (walking pneumonia, crowds)
Gram +, Rigid smile, difficulty smiling, stiff arms/legs, spasms in neck and back, lock jaw
Clostridium tetani (has immunization)
Gram -, Stomach cramps, diarrhea, vomiting, lasts 5-7 days, major cause of food illness in US
Escherichia coli
Gram -, Enlarged lymph nodes, papules or pustules, conjunctivitis, parinaud oculoglandular syndrome
Bartonella henselae (cat scratch fever)
Gram +, Appetite loss, chest p!, tiredness, night sweats, cough, wt loss
Mycobacterium tuberculosis
Gram +, Pus on throat, cervix, sinuses, foot with pts that have DM. Part of normal flora
Peptostreptococcus
Gram +, Pus producing- pharyngitis, cellulitis, acute glomerulonephritis
Streptococcus pyogenes
Neither +/-, Cough, sputum producing, night sweats, fever, generalized wasting, skin pallor, hepatosplenomegaly, atypical non-TB
