Full Backup
Captures all data everytime.
Full with incremental
Starts with a full back up, then saves only changes and new files since last backup.
Full with differential
Starts with a full back up, then saves all new or changed files since the last full backup.
Synthetic full backup
full backups with lower data transfer requirements.
Grandfather-Father-Son (GFS)
1.Son (daily backup) which has 5 labeled tapes.
2. Father (weekly backups) which has 5 labeled tapes. 3. Grandfather (monthly backup) which has 12 labeled tapes.
Online Backup
Backup media is always available and connected for backup and restore operations.
Offline Backup
Backup media is disconnected and requires manual connection for backups and restore.
