back muscles Flashcards
trapezius lateral attachment
lateral 1/3 of the clavicle, acromion, spine of the scapula
Trapezius medial attachment
EOP, medial 1/3 of the nuchal line, line ligament, spinous process of C7 to T12
Trapezius Innervation
spinal accessory nerve XI (11) and C3,C4
Trapezius actions?
Descending (superior half) elevates the scapula, Ascending (Inferior half) depress the scapula, Middle retracts the scapula, superior and inferior together rotate the glenoid cavity superiorly
Latissimus Dorsi Medial attachment
spinous process of T6 to T12, Thoracolumbar Fascia, iliac crest, and the inferior three or four ribs
Latissimus Dorsi lateral attachment
floor of the intertubercular sulus (groove) of humerus
Latissimus Dorsi Innervations
thoracodorsal nerve C6, C7, C8 (C6,7,8 keeps the lats great)
Latissimus Dorsi action
Extends, Adducts, medially rotates the shoulder joint, raises body towards arms during climbing
Levator Scapulae Medial attachment
Posterior tubercles of transverse processes C1-4
Levator Scapulae Lateral Attachment
Medial border of scapula superior to the root of spine
Levator Scapulae Innervation
Dorsal Scapular (C5) and cervical C3, C4 spinal nerves
Levator Scapulae actions
Elevates the scapula and tilts its glenoid cavity inferiorly by rotating scapula
Rhomboids major and minor medial attachment
Minor: Nuchal ligment, spinal processes of C7 to T1
Major: T2-T5 spinous processes
Rhomboids major and minor Lateral attachment
Minor: Triangular area at medial end of the scapular spine
Major: Medial boarder of the scapula from level of spine to inferior angle
Rhomboids major and minor Innervation
Dorsal Scapular nerve C4, C5
