Back and Arm MMT Flashcards

1
Q

Serratus Anterior

A

1) Pt lies supine
- shoulder @ 90°
- scapula is lifted off table -make fist and raise arm @ internally rotated position

Q

Rhomboids w/Levator scapulae

A

Pt In prone in fully adducted position w/extension (in chicken wing position) & elevates shoulder;
OT depresses shoulder while pushing arm proximal to elbow with other hand pushing elbow diagonally out or abducted out

Q

Pectoralis Major

A

Pt lies supine
Upper fibers-Bring arm straight up flexed to 90
OT applies count pressure to opposite shoulder. Hold position. Prox to elbow, apply pressure to bring arm out and down towards floor

Lower fibers (run upwardly)
Pt Arm about 130 degrees of flexion
OT counter press opp hip. Pressure prox to elbow. Ask pt. to hold position then push diagonally away from trunk

Q

Supraspinatus

A

2 tests
Pt laterally flex to same side pressure it applied to. Apply pressure to elbow counter pressure on opposite shoulder
Pt in 30-40 abduction, look opp direction, Apply pressure proximal to elbow.

16
Q

Anterior Deltoid

A

little flexion, little ext rotation, pressure prox to elbow. Arm into side slight extension and adduction

17
Q

Posterior Deltoid

A

Posterior deltoid-slightly extend arm and slightly internally rotate. Counter on opp, pressure prox to elbow. Push to bring elbow back to side in slight flexion

18
Q

Coracobrachialis

A

Pt Full elbow flexion @ 90 degrees, 45 degrees of horizontal abduction as well
OT pt at arm and trying to push arm towards side (ask pt to hold original position); counter pressure at opposite shoulder

19
Q

Brachioradialis

A

Pt’s arm adduct, elbow flexed at 90 degrees, forearm in neutral.
OT holds position
-Pressure at distal forearm in direction of extension

20
Q

Biceps

A

Pt arm adduct flex at 90 degrees, forearm, In supination, pressure distal forearm in direction of extension

21
Q

Brachialis

A

Pt arm adduct flex at 90 degrees, forearm in full pronation, Pressure at distal forearm in direction of extension

22
Q

Triceps brachii

A

Shoulder flexed to 90 degrees, 30 degrees of elbow flexion, apply pressure to distal forearm (not to hand), hold with other hand above elbow, ask pt to hold it and ask pt to flex elbow

23
Q

Supinator

A

In supination, fully flex elbow and shoulder.
Apply pressure in forearm at wrist, ask to hold. Try to pronate. Don’t hold at hand or turn at wrist. Distal and proximal radioulnar joint is where action occurs

24
Q

Pronator Teres + Pronator Quad

A

Adducted at side elbow 30-40 of flexion. Put in pronation, use 2 hands of one hand (any stress applied should be to distal forearm not wrist of hand) Hold position and try to supinate
