What is the main cause of bacillary angiomatosis?
A
Bartonella henselae –> cat scratches

What are the clinical features of bacillary angiomatosis?
A
- Seen primarily in immunocompromised patients
- Solitary or multiple, red/flesh-coloured or colourless papules and nodules that bleed easily
- Systemic features: fever, chills, malaise, anorexia

What is the main investigation ordered for bacillary angiomatosis?
A
Biopsy
- benign capillary vascular proliferation
- neutrophilic infiltrate
- Warthin-Starry stain used to visualise bacilli

What is the management of bacillary angiomatosis?
A
- ART (HIV+ve patients)
- Abx: erythromycin or doxycycline
