What is the aim of global health?
improving health and achieving equity in health for all people worldwide. promotes interdisciplinary collaborate and interdependence. takes into account wider determinants of health - e.g. housing, education
What are some solutions to improving global health?
- Regulating quality of imported food, medicines, manufactured goods etc
- International Health Regulations - preventing global spread of infectious diseases.
- Getting sufficient vaccines and drug supplies in a pandemic
- Ensuring a sufficient force of well-trained health personnel
- Disease Control Priorities in Developing Countries Project - aimed to collate information of cost-effectiveness of different interventions for use in developing countries.
- Advocacy and agreements - e.g. Tobacco Free initiative
- Joint international goal setting to reduce health problems and promote equity e.g. eradicating poverty, reduce child mortality rate, ensure environment sustainability. etc.
