what is fitness to practise described as by the GPhC?
“[The GPhC] describes ‘fitness to practise’ as a person’s suitability to
be on the register without restrictions. In practical terms this means:
maintaining appropriate standards of proficiency, ensuring good
health and good character, and adherence to the principles of good
practice set out in our various, standards, guidance and advice.”
why can a pharmacists fitness to practise be impaired?
reasons including misconduct, lack of competence, ill-health and through having been convicted of a criminal offence
things to consider in fitness to practise concerns of a student
-the seriousness of the behaviour in question;
-patterns of behaviour;
-the maturity of the student and the year of study;
-the likelihood of repeat behaviour and how well the student might
respond to support and remediation.
