Outline the operation of the Halon Fire Extinguisher
- Remove the fire extinguisher from its stowage
- Twist and pull out the ring pin to break the plastic seal
- Carry the fire extinguisher using the handle
- Hold the fire extinguisher upright with hand under the handle and thumb on top of the lever
- Direct the nozzle towards the base of the fire source
- Squeeze the lever downward with thumb
- Discharge the fire extinguisher in a sweeping motion (side-to-side) when dealing with open fires (from a distance of approximately 1–2 metres) or in short bursts when dealing with contained fires
In case smoke is detected in the lavatory, state the audio and visual indications inside the affected lavatory
- Red alarm indicator light on the smoke detector illuminates
- Alarm horn ON inside the lavatory
How often should Cabin Crew check the lavatory in the event of an inoperative lavatory smoke detector?
