if small bowel is distended and large colon is not then
think small bowel obstruction
if you see small bowel and large bowel distension then think

look at right side bc left side has stomach and should have air
if worried about pneuoperitoneum and they cant stand what do you do
get left lateral decubitus to see if it moves

thin bowel wall indicated pneumoperitoneum, gas on both sides
