what does the GPhC control?
A
- entry to, retention of and departure from the register
- responsible for assuring the integrity of the register
- provide assurance on behaviours, knowledge and skills of those registered

who is the GPhC overseen by? who else do they oversee and what do they do?
A
- Professional Standards Authority (PSA) for Health and Social Care
- regulates all the individual regulators
- check the processes are all effective and fair in their judgements (they can intervene in certain decisions)

what are the 3 statutory committees? what do they do?
A
- Investigating Committee
- Fitness to Practise Committee
- Appeals Committee
- carry out regulatory functions of the GPhC

what are the sanctions available for individual practitioners in FtP?
A
- advice
- warning
- impose conditions (up to 3 years)
- suspension from the register (up to 12 months)
- removal from the register (struck off)

what is an interim order? why may one be necessary?
A
an urgent order to suspend a registrant if:
- necessary for the protection of members of the public
- otherwise in the public interest
- in the interests of the registrant
- maximum of 18 months
- must be reviewed within 6 months or earlier if requested

if an appeal is made to a FtP decision, what court will it go to?
A
- Civil courts, not Criminal court
