single celled, no nucleus
How do bacteria cause disease?
produc. toxins
What is the structure of a virus?
length of DNA surround. by a protein coat

- soil
- animal & plant vectors
What are the symptoms of TMV?
- mosaic pattern of discolouration on leaves
- stunted growth
Why does TMV cause stunted growth?
infects chloroplasts & reduces plant’s ability -> photosythesise
What pathogen is the cause of rose black spot?
fungi
How is rose black spot spread?
H2O & wind
What are the symptoms of rose black spot?
- purple or black spots on leaves (often turn yellow & fall off)
- stunted growth
Why does rose black spot cause stunted growth?
reduces rate of photosythesis & then reduces rate of growth
