Measles
Type - Bacterial disease
Symptoms - Fever, skin rash, blindness brain damage
Ways it can spread - Through inhaling measles cough
Treatments - Vaccinations, but it must be done before getting it
HIV/AIDS
Type - Viral disease, STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease)
Symptoms - Affects the immune system
Ways it can spread - Sex, exchange of body fluids
Ways to prevent it from spreading - Contraception, vaccinations when travelling
TMV (Tobacco Mosaic Virus)
Type - Viral plant disease
Symptoms - Mosaic pattern on leaves, affects fertility and photosynthesis
Ways it can spread - Soil, water, pollen transferred by insects
Treatment - Hygienic farming, pesticides
Samonella
Type - Bacterial disease
Symptoms - Diarrhoea, vomiting, abdominal cramps (stomach pain), fever
Ways it can spread - Raw meat, uncooked meat, unvaccinated poultry
Preventions - Check food hygiene ratings, cook meat well, stop cross-contamination
Gonorrhoea
Type - Bacterial STD
Symptoms - Blindness, vagina/penis discharge, pain when urinating, infertility, pelvic pain (pain near the uterus), ectopic pregnancy (egg cells not growing in the uterus)
Ways it can spread - Sex
Treatments - Antibiotics, contraception
Rose black spot
Type - Fungal plant disease
Symptoms - Black spots on roses, reduces rate of photosynthesis due to lack of green places in leaves
Ways it can spread - Spores in wind and water
Treatment - Burning affected leaves, breeding roses that resist the disease
Malaria
Type - Protist disease
Symptoms - Anopheles eggs growing in bloodstream, affects circulatory system
Ways it can spread - Anopheles bite, exchange of blood
Ways to prevent it - Use insecticide-impregnated insect nets when sleeping, insecticide spray, use antimalarial drugs when travelling
