Habitat
The part of an ecosystem where an organism lives.
Species
A certain organism which breed fertile offsprings
Population
The number of organisms of a particular species within a habitat
Community
All the organisms which live in a habitat
Competition
All organisms need specific resources, and some species need the same resources as other species
Interdependence
All organisms rely on each other.
Biotic factors
Factors related to living things in an ecosystem
Abiotic factors
Factors related to non-living things in an ecosystem
What are animals in competition for?
Food, territory, mates
What are plants in competition for?
Light, water, minerals, space for growth
Extremophiles
Organisms which can survive extreme environments which no other organism can.
Structural adaptation
The physical features of an animal which allow it to survive in an environment. Eg. Coat for camoflage
Behavioural adaptaion
The behaviour of an animal which allow it to survive. Eg. Marking territory
Physiological/functional adaptation
Internal processes of an animal. Eg. Nutrition
