B3f - Growth And Development Flashcards
What’s the job of a vacuole?
Contains cell sap and provides support
What’s the job of a cell wall?
Provides support
What’s the job of chloroplast?
Absorbs light energy for photosynthesis
What does the cell wall contain?
Cellulose
3 structures found in plant cells but not animal cells?
Cell wall
Chloroplast
?
3 structures found in animal and plant cells?
Nucleus
Cytoplasm
Cell membrane
3 different specialised cells in the human body?
Brain Liver cell Kidney cell Red blood cell Sperm cell
Should scientist be allowed to use embryo stem cells?
No because it’s against human rights to take away life
What’s the difference between embryonic stem cells and adult stem cells?
Embryonic cells have the ability to specialise into most cells of the body but adult stem cells are only able to differentiate into a few different type of cells.
Why is human wet mass only?
Dry mass uses dead organisms and you can’t kill lots of humans but for their dry mass
Why is dry mass more accurate than wet mass?
In wet mass the water content can change and water content varies on the conditions. E.g. More water in winter than a hot summers day where things sweat.
To find the dry mass of something
Leave it on a low temp over a long period of time
