B206 Emergencys Flashcards
Warning lights
Engine out
N1<55%
If N2 dropping, engine has failed- lower collective & enter autorotation
False Eng out indication will happen if N1 gauge fails. Flight characteristics will be unchanged. Land as soon as practical.
Caution lights
A/F fuel filter
Airframe fuel filter clogged- Land as soon as practical, clean before next flight
Baggage door
Baggage door not securely latched, land as soon as practical
Engine Chip
Metallic particles in engine oil. Land as soon as possible
Engine relight
Engine igniter is operating
Fuel filter
Engine fuel filter clogged- Land as soon as practical, clean before next flight
Fuel pump
One or both fuel boost pump failed, descend below 6000ft unusable fuel is 10gal. Land as soon as practical
Gen Fail
Generator off line
If Gen switch is off-switch on
If Gen switch is on& Gen fail is on- reset once then on.
If Gen fail stays goes out- continue flight.
If Gen fail stays on- switch off, unnecessary electronic off. Land as soon as practical.
IBF Filter
AFB inlet barrier clogging- reduce power if possible, monitor TOT & N1
If IBF Filter stays on or TOT rises or performance unacceptable- select IBF bypass switch to open, exit dusty conditions.
Service before next flight.
Rotor low rpm
Rotor Rpm below 90%- reduce collective & ensure Throttle is full open.
T/R chip
Metallic particles in tail rotor gearbox oil.
Land as soon as possible
Trans chip
Metallic particles in transmission oil.
Land as soon as possible.
Trans oil press
XMSN oil pressure below minimum
Land as soon as possible
Trans oil temp
XMSN oil temperature above red line on gauge.
Land as soon as possible
Compressor stall/surging
ToT increase, torque decrease, erratic N1 or N2, reduce collective, anti-ice on, heater on.
If stall/surge severe. Enter auto rotation, shut down engine.
If less severe, maintain power below, below stall/surge point, land as soon as practical.
Engine driveshaft failure
Left yaw, N2/NR needle split, rapid NR decrease, rapid N2 increase, ROTOR LOW RPM, and audio tone.
Immediately enter autorotation , keep throttle open.
Engine oil pressure low, high or fluctuating
Pressure above red line or below lower red line.
Land as soon as possible
Engine oil temperature above red line
Land as soon as practical
Engine over speed/ under speed
Noticable decrease or increase in NR, N2, N1 & torque
N2 low, lower collective, confirm throttle full open, maintain flight
If can’t maintain- enter autorotation & keep throttle open.
If N2 high- control with throttle and collective & maintain flight.
If over speed uncomfortable, enter autorotation, shut down engine.
Hydraulic failure
Noise from pump, control forces increase+ feedback on cyclic & collective or uncommanded movements
If uncommanded control movements hydraulics off, airspeed 70-80 mph, land as soon as possible.
Control force increase+ feedback, 70-80mph, ensure switch is on. If ON pull yellow hyd. circuit breaker. If return to normal land as soon as practical.
If no change, hyd breaker in switch off land as soon as practical.
