B1.8 osmosis in plants Flashcards

1
Q

what does water moving into the plant by osmosis cause

A

it causes the vacuole to swell which pushes the cytoplasm against the cell wall.
they pressure builds up until no more water can physically enter the cell- known as turgor pressure
it makes the cells rigid which in turn keeps the leaves and stem rigid and firm
cell wall prevents the plant cell from bursting.
