Habitat
A habitat is a location where a species can be found.
Organism
An individual animal, plant or single celled life form
Population
Made up of all the organisms of one species living together in the same place at the same time (e.g a woods).
Community
All the different species that live in the same habitat at the same time.
Stable community
A stable community is a community where things are relatively constant throughout time.
Ecosystem
The interaction of a community of living organisms with the non living parts of the environment.
Abiotic factor
A non-living aspect of an ecosystem
Biotic factor
A living aspect of an ecosystem
Interdependance
The dependance of every form of life on other living things and on the natural resources in its environment, such as air, soil and water.
Competition
The competition between members of the same and different species for resources, a mate, territory and food.
