What is a habitat?
The part of an ecosystem where an organism lives
What are species?
This is a group of organisms that can breed together to make new species
What is the population?
This is the organisms of the same species that share a particular habitat
What is the community?
This is made up of all the organisms that share a particular habitat
What is the competition?
A word that describes the fact that organisms often need the same resources
What is being interdependent?
A word the describes how organisms rely on and impact upon each other
What are biotic factors?
Other living things that can affect a particular population .e.g new pathogens, new predators and food availability
What are abiotic factors?
Non-living things that can affect a particular population .e.g temperature, moisture level and light intensity
What are carnivores in competition for?
In competition for prey
What do prey organisms compete for?
Compete to not be eaten
Give two reasons why an animal needs to set-up and defend a territory
To protect their children and baby animals and also to protect their food from other predators
Give to ways in which males compete for females
Impress the females by doing cooling things and also fighting to get the women they want
What do plants compete for in the abiotic resources?
Light,nutrients,water and space to grow
Give two ways plants disperse their seeds?
Use wind to disperse them around. Plants also use explosive seed pods.
Three ways how plants avoid competition with each other?
Growth season,root length and light
