B1.4 Specilasation in animal cells Flashcards

1
Q

How is a nerve cell specialised for its function?

A
  1. Lots of dendrites to connect to other cells.
  2. An axon that sends nerve impulse from one place to another.
  3. Synapses adapted to transmit electrical impulse using transmitter chemicals.

Q

How is a sperm cell specialised for its function?

A
  1. The tail is adapted to propel the sperm to the egg cell in the female reproductive system.
  2. The middle section of the cell is filled with mitochondria to provide it energy for the tail to do work.
  3. Enzymes at the head(the acrosome) for breaking down outer layer of egg cell.
  4. Nucleus contains genetic information.
