B1.4 Specilasation in animal cells Flashcards
1
Q
How is a nerve cell specialised for its function?
A
- Lots of dendrites to connect to other cells.
- An axon that sends nerve impulse from one place to another.
- Synapses adapted to transmit electrical impulse using transmitter chemicals.
2
Q
How is a sperm cell specialised for its function?
A
- The tail is adapted to propel the sperm to the egg cell in the female reproductive system.
- The middle section of the cell is filled with mitochondria to provide it energy for the tail to do work.
- Enzymes at the head(the acrosome) for breaking down outer layer of egg cell.
- Nucleus contains genetic information.
3
Q
How is a muscle cell specialised for its function?
A
- Contain proteins that can slide over each other and make the fibres contract.
- Contain mitochondria for muscles to contract and relax.
