Q

What are the dietary requirements of amino acids?

A

Our cells can only synthesise non-essential amino acids (11) and the essential amino acids need to be consumed via our diets
– a vegan diet may not be well balanced to fulfill this

Q

Describe peptide chain diversity

A

There are 20 amino acids coded for in the genetic code, and polypeptides can vary in length and amino acids can be in any order.

Q

What is the effect of high pH and temperature?

A

Causes denaturation:
Weak hydrogen bonds shaping the protein start to lose its shape hence, causing the shape of the aa to be altered and unable to perform its original function.
