B1.2 Animal and plant cells Flashcards
What organelles do plant cells have?
Cell membrane, ribosomes, cellulose, cell wall, mitochondria, cytoplasm, vacuole, chloroplasts, nucleus
What organelles do animal cells have?
Cell membrane, ribosomes, mitochondria, cytoplasm, nucleus
What is the FUNCTION of the permanent vacuole?
It’s a space in the cytoplasm filled with cell sap, it gives the cell structure and keeps it rigid.
Are plant cells bigger than animal cells?
Most of the time they are! They range from 10-100 micrometers
Name three extra features that plant cells have
Vacuole, cell wall, chloroplast
Not all plant cells have chloroplast why?
Chloroplast is used for photosynthesis but plants that grow underground don’t get sun shining on them therefore they don’t need chloroplast for photosynthesis.
