16
Q

What is a dominant allele?

A

controls the development of a characteristic, even if its present on only one chromosome in a pair

17
Q

What is a recessive allele?

A

controls the development of a characteristic only if a dominant allele isn’t present. e.g. the recessive allele is on both chromosome in a pair.

18
Q

How are animal cells artificially produced? (Cloning)

A

The nucleus is first removed from an adult body cell and put into one of another sheep which is unfertilised
The new individual will have the exact same genetic information as the donor.

19
Q

How do animals clone naturally?

A

The cells of an embryo sometimes seperate , the two new embryos develop into identical twins.

20
Q

What are the steps of cell division in asexual reproduction.

A

Chromosonsel cell with two pairs of chromosomes.

2) Each Chromosone replicates itself
3) the copies are pulled apart? Cell now divides for the only time.
4) Each ‘daughter’ cell has the same number of chromosomes and contains the same genes as the parental cell.

21
Q

How do plants naturally clone?

A

When they form bulbs or runners
