What are the steps to prepare your slide

A

1) add drops of water into the middle of a clean slate

2)Cut up an onion and separate out into layers and use tweezers to pull of some of the epidermal tissue

3)Put the epidermal tissue into the water on the slide

4)Use iodine to stain it

5)Place of coverslip over carefully tilt it and lower it onto the slide

How do use a light microscope to look at your slide

A

1)Clip the slide onto the stage

2)Select the lowest power objective lens

3)Use the course adjustment knob to move the stage up to just below the objective lens

4)Look down at the eyepiece and use the adjustment knob to roughly put it in focus

5)Use the fine adjustment knob until you get the clear image

6)If you need to see it with greater magnifications swap to a higher power objective lens and refocus

How do you draw your observation with A pencil

A

Draw what you see under the microscope with a sharp pencil

Make sure your drawing takes up at least half of the space and it is drawn with clear unbroken lines

Do not colour or shade

They must be trying to proportion

Include a title

Label it
