Obesity can lead to type 2 diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, strokes and heart disease
What is metabolic rate?
Metabolic rate refers to the chemical reactions which take place in cells
What is the best way to loose weight?
Exercise and reduce your energy intake- also increases metabolic rate
What is the difference between malnourished and deficiency?
The word malnourished means someone with a bad diet, so could have more of something, bit deficiency is a lack of something
What do carbohydrates do?
Carbohydrates give us energy. They come from wholemeal, breads ect. You can have simple (anything sweet) and starchy. Simple is fast energy because it is already broken down.
What do proteins do?
For growth and repair of tissues. Digestive products: amino acids
Why do we need cholesterol?
You need cholesterol in your body because we need it in our cell membrane and they make vital hormones. There are two forms of cholesterol carried around our body in your blood. One form is healthy but the other can cause Heath problems. You need the right balance of cholesterol. If the balance is wrong, it can increase the risk of heart disease.
Why does exercise keep us healthy?
Exercise keeps us healthy because you are using more energy. The more muscle tissue you use will increase your metabolic rate. Also, exercise affects your cholesterol levels, and higher’s your good cholesterol.
What inherited factors do we get?
There are inherited factors such as your metabolic rate that can affect your health. The way the liver makes cholesterol is inherited
