The name given to violent reprisals against Jacobins in 1795
The objective was not to reinstate the monarchy, but those involved included emigres, royalists and priests

Where did the White Terror begin?
Began in the south
Who were Muscadins?
Mobs of relatively well-off bourgeoisie young men who wore the royalist colours and sought fights with ex-Jacobins
Why was the Vendee Region significant during the White Terror?
The location of the most violent opposition to the Jacobin Terror
People there attacked government forces and stole food supplies
In June 1795 they were joined by emigres who increased their numbers to over 20,000
