B. Concepts and principles Flashcards
A request made by the speaker, evoked by an MO, reinforced by the requested item
Example. A child is hungry and asks for a carrot
Mand
The speaker labels something in the environment, evoked by a nonverbal SD, reinforced by generalized conditioned reinforcer. Example. You see a cow on a road trip and say cow.
Tact
When a response is evoked by an MO and a nonverbal stimulus, thus, the response is part mand and part tact.
Example. If a child is shown a picture of a dog and is given the verbal instruction what is this?
Then the response dog would be considered a what?
An impure tact
Tact
You want to start tact training with a four-year-old client using an iPad. Which of the following is the best way to teach your technicians to implement tact training procedures?
Praise the client when they say iPad in the presence of an iPad
When the speaker repeats what they hear. Evoked by a verbal SD, point point correspondence, and formal similarity. Reinforced by generalized conditioned reinforcer. Example. Very common in ASD. Repeating of words, sentences, phrases etc.
Echoic
The speaker responds to another person in conversation. Evoked by a verbal SD. No point-to-point correspondence. May have formal similarity. Social reinforcement
Intraverbal
Reading a sign, a book, etc. Evoked by nonverbal SD, point point correspondence, no formal similarity, generalized conditioned reinforcement. Example. A stop sign, a passage in a book
Textual
Writing down something that is spoken. Evoked by a verbal SD, point to point correspondence, no formal similarity. Generalized conditioned reinforcement. Example dictating some thing, taking notes
Transcription
Modifies other verbal behaviors. Example. I think, I see, I hear, modify the phrases that come after them
Autoclitic
Holding up a cookie and asking the student, what is it? Is an _____ _____? And is what type of verbal operant training?
Impure Tact
Tact training
Verbal operant: when the operant looks the same and shares the same sense mode. When both stimulus and response are visual, auditory, or tactile and physically resemble each other
formal similarity
A verbal operant whose responses is identical.
Point to point correspondence
