B and T-cells Flashcards
What cytokines are produced and secreted by Th1
IFNgamma, TNFa and IL2, IL12
Promote cellular immunity
What cytokines are produced and secreted by Th2
IL4, IL5, IL13, IL10. (IL6?)
Promote humoral immunity
What cytokines are produced and secreted by Th17
IL17, IL26, IL22
What cytokines are produced and secreted by Treg
IL10 and TGFb
gamma delta T cell does what?
Migrate to mucosal and cutaneous tissues: first line defense. Antigen recognition is NOT MHC-RESTRICTED
Thought to interact with non-protein antigens that are not processed or associated with classical MHC molecules.
1: Eliminates the damaged cell: cytotoxic
2: Influences surrounding cells: helper
Function of Treg
Regulatory Tcells (Tregs) do not prevent initial T activation. They:
1: Inhibit sustained response
2: Prevent chronic and potentially damaging responses
In short: Suppress Th1 and Th2 responses
What self antigens are seen in thymus?
- ubiquitous cell-associated and circulating proteins
- The AIRE (autoimmune regulator) controls the expression of self peptides by thyme medullary epithelial cells.
Hyper-IgM syndrome
Lack of CD40L on Tcells -> no class switch
What does B-cells require to class switch their constant heavy chain?
CD40 and cytokines from T helper cells
