Pectoral and clavipectoral fascia
Anterior axillary fold
Posterior border of Axilla
Scapula and subscapularis (anterior)
Teres major and latissimus dorsi (inferiorly)
Posterior axillary fold
Medial border of Axilla
Thoracic wall
Serratus anterior
Lateral border of Axilla
Intertubercular sulcus of the humerus
Contents of Axilla
Axillary artery and its branches Axillary vein and its tributaries Brachial plexus Lymphatic vessels Axillary lymph nodes all embedded in axillary fat
What does axillary artery come from and turn in to?
Subclavian artery -> axillary artery (1st rib to inferior teres major) -> Brachial artery
1st part of Axillary artery
Between the lateral border of 1st rib and medial border of pectoralis minor
One branch - Superior thoracic artery
2nd part of Axillary artery
Posterior to pectoralis minor
2 branches - Thoraco-acromial artery and Lateral thoracic artery
3rd part of Axillary artery
Lateral border of pectoralis minor to inferior border of teres major
3 branches - Subscapular artery, anterior and posterior circumflex humeral arterties
Branches of Thoraco-acromial artery
Pectoral
Deltoid
Acromial
Clavicular
Branches of subscapular
Circumflex scapular artery
Thoracodorsal artery
