Frontalis
Origin: Galea Aponeurotica
Insertion: Skin above nose and eyes
Action: Wrinkles forehead, raises eyebrows.

Occipitalis
Origin: Superior nuchal lines of the occipital bone
Insertion: Galea aponeurotica
Action: Draws back scalp
Nerve: Facial VII
Procerus
Origin: Fascia over nasal bone
Insertion: skin between eyebrows
Action: Draw eyebrows downward
Nerve: Facial VII
Corrugator Supercili
Origin: Medial end of superciliary arch
Insertion: skin under the medial end of eyebrows
Action: Draws eyebrows downward and medially
Nerve: Facial VII
Nasalis
Origin: maxilla
Insertion: Muscle on opposite side over the bridge of nose
Action: Maintains opening of nose
Nerve: Facial VII
Orbicularis Oculi
Origin: medial margin of orbit
Insertion:
O: continuous around orbit
P: Lateral Palpebral Ligament into zygomatic bone
L: lateral palpebral ligament
Action: closes eye
Nerve: Facial VII
Orbicularis Oris
Origin: corner of mouth
Insertion: other muscles at angle of mouth
Action: closes and protrudes lips
Nerve: Facial VII
Zygomaticus Major
Origin: zygomatic bone
Insertion: Angle of mouth
Action: draws angle of mouth and back
Nerve: Facial VII
Auricularis Anterior
Origin: temporal
Insertion: helix of ear
Action: draws ear forward
Nerve: Facial VII
Auricularis Superior
Origin: temporal
Insertion: superior part of ear
Action: draws ear upward

Auricularis Posterior
Origin: mastoid area of temporal bone
Insertion: Posterior part of the ear
Action: draws ear upward

Origin: superior and inferior temporal lines of parietal bone
Insertion: coronoid process of mandible
Action: Closes lower jaw, clenches teeth
Nerve: Trigeminal V
Masseter
Origin: zygomatic arch, zygomatic process of maxilla
Insertion: Ramus of mandible
Action: Closes lower jaw, clenches teeth
Nerve: Trigeminal V
Sternocleidomastoid
Origin: sternum
Insertion: Mastoid process of temporal bone
Action: Flexes neck down, rotates head
Nerve: Accessory XI and Cervical
Splenius Capitus
Origin: spinous processes of vertebra
Insertion: mastoid process of temporal bone
Action: extends and rotates head
Nerve: cervical
Semispinalis capitis
Origin: transverse processes C-4 to T-6
Insertion: Between nuchal lines of occipital bone
Action: extends and rotates head
