Avionics Flashcards
What are the two altimeters?
Barometric
Radar
What does the barometric altimeter do?
Uses pitot- static pressure to indicate altitude above sea level
How does radar altimeter work?
Uses radio echoes to determine altitude above ground level
What is azimuth?
Angular position in a horizontal plane measured clockwise from true north
What is bearing?
Angular position of object with respect to a point or line
What is range?
Distance of object from observer
What is heading?
Actual orientation of the aircrafts longitudinal axis at any instance
What is true heading?
Direction measured by true north
What is magnetic heading?
The direction of earths magnetic field
What is relative heading?
Current direction an object is facing at the 0/360 azimuth alignment
What’s the purpose of using Very-high frequency/ Ultra-high frequency?
To communicate
