AVC - Form (TE) Flashcards
TE with respect to size
Have largest receptive fields, often an entire contralateral half of visual field
TE responds best to
3D objects or photos of them
TE neurons respond poorly to
spots, lines, stripes, etc.
TE neurons continue/don’t continue(?) to respond if….?
Usually, these neuron continue to respond if object is moved to different location or is changed in size, shape, brightness, background or partially occluded
Is there one neuron for each individual object?
No. However, recognition of objects is based on the activity of numerous neurons each sensitive to different aspects of visual information; it is the pattern of activity of these neurons that represents the visual perception. (remember how many neurons there are and how many interconnections there are between them and the various influences these connections can have)
How might neurons be arrange in relation to response to objects…
READ: neurons also arranged in columns with neurons in adjacent regions responding to slightly different versions of the same object
Visual agonisa
- Visual acuity intact
- Not dementia
- Cannot identify objects by sight
- Can identify objects by other sensory modalities
