Autonomic Ns Flashcards
What are the 2 type of receptors?
Muscarinic and nicotinic
What is a muscarinic receptor and give a few examples?
G protein coupled so ip3/dag system
M1 to M5
M3 - bladder
What is a nicotinic receptor and give examples
Made up of 5 subunits, alpha 1 and 2, gamma and beta
Muscle receptor- n1
Ganglionic receptor - n2
Non selective cation channel
What does the alpha 1 receptor activate?
Gq, stimulates ip3/dag … increases ca
What does alpha 2 stimulate?
Activates gi, inhibits camp
Found presynaptically, decreases noradrenaline
What system does renin affect?
Parasym- no effect
Symp- increases secretion from kidney
What muscle controls contraction of pupil?
Sphincter papillae muscle which is mediated by the oculomotor nerve
What is given as eye drops for people who have glaucoma?
Cholinesterase inhibitor ecothiopate, decreases pa in eye
