Avoid gluten entirely

Diarrhea (/ constipation)
Abdominal pain
Bloating
Weight loss
What causes vitamin deficiency in celiac dx?
Decreased absorption in small intestine

Nutritional deficiencies (primarily anemia and osteoporosis)
Small bowel ulcers
Amenorrhea

Increased risk of cancer (primarily lymphomas)

Where’s the 1st place to look for excipients content?
Package insert
What’s the key word to look for when checking package insert?
Starch - which will be either corn, potato, tapioca or wheat
What should u do if package insert states “starch” only?
Call manufacturer to find out if starch is wheat

Immune response to eating gluten
