AUTOCAD - Parametric Drafting Flashcards
Parametric drafting
a form of drafting in which parameters and constraints drive object size and location to produce drawings with features that adapt to changes made to other features
parameters (constraints)
Geometric characteristics and dimensions that control the size, shape, and positions of drawings geometry
geometric constraints
geometric characteristics applies to restrict the size or location of geometry
dimensional constraints
measurements that numerically control the size or location of geometry
underconstrained
describes a drawings that includes constraints, but not enough to size and locate all geometry
fully constrianed
describes a drawing in which objects have no freedom of movement
over-constrained
describes a drawing that constains too many constraints
reference dimensions
A dimension used for reference purposes only. Parentheses enclose reference dimensions to differentiate them from other dimensions
geometric constraint bars:
toolbars that allow you to view and remove geometric constraints
dynamic format
a dimensional constraint format specifically for controlling the size or location of geometry
annotational format
the constraints still look like traditional dimensions, using dimension style. can still control the size and location of geometry
dimensional constraint parameters
parameters that form when you insert a dimensional constraint
