Q

What does the lateral mode RwY means ?

A

Runway mode is engaged. This mode provides Steering guidance during the takeoff roll, and initial climb (30feet) if a localizer signal is available

Q

What’s the difference between the vertical modes CLB and OP CLB?

A

CLB is managed climb mode- FMGgS programmed altitude constraints are taken into account ; NAV must be engaged

OP CLB is open Climb Mode- FMGS programmed altitude constraint are ignored

Q

Describe ALT crz

A

Altitude hold ( cruise) mode is engaged and pitch guidance is given to hold cruise altitude

The altitude is permitted to vary +- 50 feet from the selected altitude to minimize thrust variations.

Performance information is based on cruise flight until the decent is initiated.

Q

Whats the difference between the vertical modes Des and Op Des

A

DES is managed Descent Mode- FMGS programmed altitude are taken into account; NAV must be engaged; pitch guidance is given to acquire and track a vertical profile; if selected speed during descent, the profile is not modified- the aircraft flies the DES profile at the selected speed.

OP DES is open Descent Mode- FMGS programmed altitude constraints are ignored; pitch guidance is given to manintain target airspeed.
