Name the 3 main functions of antibodies in preventing infection. Explain your answer and include structure of different parts of the antibody in your answer.

A

Neutralization:
preventing pathogens from entering or damaging cells by binding to them

Opsonization:
stimulating removal of pathogens by macrophages and other cells by coating the pathogen

Complement activation

and triggering destruction of pathogens by stimulating other immune responses such as the complement pathway
